With ChatGPT and AI taking everything by storm, I thought what a perfect time to write a blog about Artificial Intelligence in films where it is a pivotal part of the story, often being the central theme or character. And, what better way but to have ChatPGT write sections for me to help demonstrate part of its incredible power. Even the illustrations included here are AI generated using Midjourney.

That’s right, I’m going to start using this innovative piece of tech to help assist me getting back into flimblogging which should essentially save me hours of research, writing and comparing notes and formulating concluding arguments.

Is it cheating? Well, it can’t write personal opinions or give subjective views on films so using it to write a review wouldn’t be very productive and it would lose that individual style that I have adapted and adopted over the years. Plus, it does depend greatly on the prompts and questions you use so some tweaking and editing is needed here and there. But what it will help me with, is saving hours on more factual research and so far, the amount ChatGPT can churn out is overwhelmingly impressive.

In fact, there was so much, partly because I got carried away. It opens firstly with an introduction to AI in cinema outlining some of the most iconic films and then following with a detailed breakdown of each, starting with some of the lesser-known movies that might have been overlooked.
