Most Disappointing of 2016

This isn't a list of the worse films of the year, that'll be a different post, but this list is of films that should have been something more, films many of us were expecting a lot more from but failed to raise the excitement or deserve the hype.

1. Allegiant

I was hoping they had learn something from Insurgent. It's such a shame that this series started off so well and has just gone down hill from there. It's rushed, and some of the characters feel left out. It's certainly the weakest one of the trilogy, when it shouldn't be.

2. Hail, Caesar!

This was simply disappointing because it's from the Coen Brothers and you always expect good things, if not great things to come from their movies. This was an unfortunate exception, slow and boring in parts. It's worse Coen's film I've seen.

3. Inferno

The film adaptations are never as good as the books, when are they ever? But this was bad for both Howard and Hanks. It felt lazy, like they really couldn't be bothered and was poorly edited. Just hoping Lost Symbol is better if they ever get the green light for it.

4. Blair Witch

Can't say I was a massive fan of the first one but it broke the mould of conventional horror inspiring many others like it. I think this was too much, and whilst it was undeniably jumpy at parts, it was nothing more than that with no lasting affect.

5. The Girl On The Train

This is a prime example of not believing the hype. Not having read the book, I was hoping I wouldn't suffer the "book is better" attitude. But, I wasn't overly impressed. It's not bad, but it's wasn't amazing either.

6. Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

What happened? McQuarrie did a good job of the first film and I always expect something great from Zwick, but no, it's a watered down version, lacking the intellect and action of the first. I think there's a clue in the title.

7. Jason Bourne

Now I'm a massive Bourne fan with Identity being my favourite but there's a part of me that just wants him killed off before plots and twists get too stupid. All that fuss Damon, about only return with Greengrass at the helm. Why was that!?

8. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

I found myself liking certain bits of this film but really hating others which is why it makes this list, just avoiding my worse films of 2016. Batfleck wasn't as bad as I was expecting, the action was good but what on Krypton did they do to Doomsday!

9. Suicide Squad

I remember walking out from this quite disappointed but unsure why until I wrote my review, which actually contradicts my over rating, being fairy high, too high for it to be considered a "bad" film. But it still should have been more and I think a lot of it was down to the poor editing. Could have been a lot worse, but should have been so much more.
